Tom, for one game I wouldn't blame PDB, but I'd love to see the statistics showings how many times the Devils have blown leads during his tenure. His system is based on forecheck, pressure, and sustaining an attack. My issue is he doesn't know how to drain the clock, clog the neutral zone and limit chances. It's been that way since day one and last night evidence that those issues are still there. That's my concern. - jersey1414

Feeling provacative today so food for thought-
Deboer has been behind the bench for six years now, and made the playoffs once. That year, he had Parise on one wing and Kovalchuk on the other. Additionally, a lot of notable prospects have crashed and burned under his tutelage. Begin butthurt. |

Of those 6 teams how many do you think should have made the playoffs? I'm torn on Deboer. He's loved by the players, does tons of work to prepare the team, and also runs a pretty great system. And then he ruins everything with his lineup choices. |

As am I. I'm a big believer in having stability in a system/organization, so I hated when we had 3 coaches in 3 years a while ago. That said, we shouldn't use that as an excuse to keep a system in place if it isn't the right one.
Not saying Deboer's definitively isn't working, I'm just saying in theory. |

PDB plays Sal-Zid 20+ mins that directly lead to this loss. And again Larsson did nothing to warrant being sparsly used in the third. It's a joke how he is held to a double standard. Did Severson not turn the puck over at our blue line just like him? Did those turnovers not lead to scoring chances? Did he get sat? Did zid not leave Sal out to dry on odd man rushes multiple times even before his horrendous giveaway to cost us the lead?
Sure we could have scored another but that doesn't take away the fact that Sal-Zid shouldn't even be a pairing let alone play as much as they do. How can there be accountability to anyone when these guys are never punished for anything? Why Merril-Larsson pairing which looked good was not used more is baffling to me. Especially in OT after they blew the game I don't even think I saw Merril out there for longer than 15 secs. |

It just seems like fixing the line combos is the easy part, but you are right. If pete can't eventually figure things out with the lines he'll have to go. |

I like his system and sort of the feel the same way. But he just seems so stubborn in changing his ways. If he would just tweak the way he made the lineup I wouldn't even complain about him but he will continue to not scratch Gio, give Sal-Zid too much ice time, play zubs above his role, be a wienerhead to Larsson, and not give Henrique time with Jagr or Elias 5v5. I know Henrique looks decent between the newfies and we need to be able to roll 4 lines blah blah...But we have enough players and if we would just sign Gomez and get rid of Gio I think our bottom six will be more than adequate. |

The lack of speed on the Devils is ridiculous, other than Brunner the rest of the team looks like it's skating in mud.
Salicky is no bueno.
These two seem to do more harm than good out there.
I don't like Zid on the point on the PP either i think he's better down low.
Larsson was a non factor imo, if you didn't tell me he was playing i would have never known he was on the ice.
Well at least our PP looked good. |

TOOTOO IS HAVING X-RAYS ON HIS FOOT!!!!
idk wtf Ruutu was scratched, but finally we'll get to see Ruutu-center (because i don't want GIo but he'll be here anyway)- Brunner.
we saw the advantage of a fast/skilled guy on the 4th line. Brunner skated circles around NY's 4th line. Who cares if some 4th lines are "tough", skate around them! Ruutu can hit just fine. Put in a player that sees the ice well (Gomez) and we have a 4th line party.
but what do i know. |

You guys have a player in that Severson kid. First time, I've seen him, and real impressed, although he will make his mistakes as all young defensemen do.
He doesn't mind shooting the puck, huh? |

Damn, I hate how they shortened the regular season to 6 games. Can't believe the NHL went through with that. |

I know, it's seems early to feel this way. But it feels like last year all over again. I pray that I am wrong and am still rooting hard, but can't seem to rid myself of these negative feelings. |

We'll be fiiiiine. I think we'll be right there in the 6-8 seed considering at least three teams in the East are actively trying to throw the season. |

Schneider and the PK have to get better. |
